Dr. Ahmed Youssef El-Assy

President

Mechanical Power Engineer. Worked in the textile industry for extended years as family business before earning his PHD in Solar Energy from the University of Michigan, USA. Dr. Ahmed is an esteemed consultant in the AC field and a Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and AC professor at Ain-Shams University.

Heavily involved since 2008 in vaccine production facilities with biological safety level 3; hospitals became his speciality.

Dr. Mahmoud Fouad

BOG Memeber - Chapter Vice President

Dr. Mahmoud Fouad is a distinguished figure in mechanical engineering, particularly in HVAC systems and indoor air quality. He earned his B.Sc. (1972) and M.Sc. (1974) in Mechanical Engineering from Cairo University, followed by a Ph.D. (1979) from Salford University in England.

Throughout his career, Dr. Fouad  held many positions including (Professor and past chairman of Department of Mechanical Power Engineering at Cairo University, Visiting professor at AUC, Carleton University in Canada, University of California, Berkeley)

Eng. Mohamed Heider

BOG Member - President Elect

Eng. Mohamed Heider is a Mechanical Engineer graduated from Cairo University in 1993 and started his career as a consultant. In his career, he obtained M.SC of renewable Energy from the BUE and earned his position as a member of the Egyptian Code Committee as well the consultant title by the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate.

Eng. Mohamed Heider served as ASHRAE Cairo Chapter President for years (2020-2021) & (2023-2024). Currently, he is the vice president a BOG member.

Dr. Hesham Safwat

BOG Member

Dr. Hesham Safwat has over 25 years of experience specializing in HVAC systems, energy efficiency, and sustainable building design. He holds a Ph.D. and Master’s in Mechanical Power Engineering from Cairo University and has been a Senior Lecturer at the British University in Egypt since 2014. From 1996 to 2014, he served as Technical Manager at Miraco – Carrier, leading innovations in HVAC design, energy modeling, and LEED-certified systems. As a key member of the Egyptian Code Committee and an International Instructor for ASHRAE, Dr. Safwat actively contributes to shaping global HVAC standards. Through research, consultancy, and leadership, he has advanced energy-efficient technologies, sustainable practices, and building performance worldwide.

 

Eng. Fouad Hamad

Eng. Fouad Hamad is a mechanical engineer, graduated from Helwan University, Faculty of Engineering 1974 and has been an ASHRAE member since 1997, serving as Chapter president for 2 terms.

Eng. Mohamed Abu-taleb

Chapter Treasurer

Mechanical Engineer with long history working as first line manager in multiple well-known HVAC related local and abroad firms.

Joined ASHRAE Cairo Chapter in 2015 and become a board member in 2018. Eng. Mohamed had held several positions in the Chapter (GA chair, Ref. Co chair, RP co-chair, chapter secretary and chapter treasurer).

Currently I’m the president of MAKTECH company working in field of HVAC field.

Eng. Mamdouh Abu-taleb

Eng. Emad Mokhtar

BOG Member

Graduated 1980 as a Mechanical Engineer and acquired diploma in air conditioning and refrigeration from TCI, Newyork in addition to an 18-month training with TRANE USA.  Currently, Eng. Emad Mokhtar is board member in power Egypt corporation which manufacture split systems and central AC, also in JAC corporation for production of commercial vehicle and passenger cars.

Eng. Ehab Mamdouh

Eng. Eman Abu-Taleb

Eng. Eman – past president of ASHRAE Cairo chapter, Regional vice chair for young engineers in ASHRAE 2020-2023 – is a strategic procurement manager graduated from Helwan university 2008 with Bsc of Mechanical engineering, took a diploma in HVAC design at Ain Shams university. Eng. Eman held many positions like a technical office manager and senior project lead.

Eng. Hossam Abdelkader

Eng. Hossam Abdelkader is a senior engineering and information systems leader with more than 20 years of experience spanning HVAC manufacturing, engineering operations, enterprise systems, and digital transformation.

He is a Mechanical Power Engineering graduate from the Faculty of Engineering, Matariya (2001). Early in his career, Eng. Hossam developed a strong foundation in software development and digital systems, becoming one of the first Egyptian engineers to earn the Macromedia Certified Flash Developer credential in 2002. He later pursued professional development in IT and Information Systems, complementing his engineering background and enabling him to bridge technical, operational, and digital domains.

His career journey includes roles in web application development and technical training at DGX Academy, followed by technical marketing and sales engineering at Tiba Manzalawi Group, and commercial leadership at Elsewedy Arab Cables. He currently serves as Senior Technical Office & Information Systems Director at Delta Construction & Manufacturing (Delta DCM), where he leads technical office operations, enterprise ERP systems, and digital transformation initiatives supporting HVAC manufacturing and organizational performance.

Eng. Hossam has been an active member of the ASHRAE Cairo Chapter since 2014, initially serving as Webmaster, and later contributing through several committees including Electronic Communication, Membership Promotion, and Research Promotion. He currently serves as a Board of Governors member, supporting chapter governance, technical activities, and industry engagement.
